The Real News continued

No, it wasn't the hundreds of thousands of people made homeless and without crops in Bangladesh and India because of floods. Nor the continuing fires in the tinder-dry west, including several up here in northern California that have destroyed---and this is usually the only thing that gets media attention---hundreds of homes.

And it certainly wasn't the study showing that increasingly hot summers are matching global heating models, as referenced here:

No, it was a hurricane in Florida. Maybe because they're named, the media treats them like celebrities. So the weather finally dominated the news for a few days, as we watched hapless TV reporters being blown around (even in wind tunnels, if the real thing wasn't available) and pointing to tree branches lying ominously on the ground, on all channels, all day, all night, all day, all night...
